Contract: Initial 12 month contract with potential for permanency!
We’re seeking a skilled Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE) Supervisor to join a major infrastructure project within the heavy industry sector. Based in Port Kembla, this is a key site-based role focused on ensuring compliance and driving strong safety and environmental performance across all construction activities.
About the Role
Reporting to the Project Controls Manager, you’ll provide hands-on HSE governance and support to a multidisciplinary construction team. You’ll work closely with internal stakeholders and subcontractors to maintain compliance, reduce risk, and champion a proactive safety culture.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement and monitor project-specific HSE management plans
- Conduct site audits, inspections and incident investigations
- Collaborate with construction, engineering, and environmental teams to ensure alignment with project safety systems and environmental controls
- Facilitate contractor site inductions and manage the whole induction process
- Review and govern subcontractor safety documentation, SWMS, JSEAs and work packs
- Maintain reporting using internal platforms
Requirements
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in the construction industry
- At least 2 years in a dedicated HSE role
- Cert IV (or above) in Occupational Health & Safety or equivalent
- Experience in civil or heavy industrial construction environments (desirable)
- Proven experience working with safety systems, such as MARS, Comply Flow, or similar platforms
- High level of computer literacy – particularly Excel, Word, and MS Project
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
