We are currently looking to hire 5 Excavator Operator/Machine Operator who can operate an Excavator when needed. We are looking at hiring for a three-month period with the working being in regional areas of VIC and NSW so travel is required.
About the Project
The ICF fibre network is an iconic project that only comes around once in a lifetime, It involves the renewal/upgrade of the existing inter-city network across the Nation. The new inter-city fibre cable uses technically improved optic fibre cable, and architecture which will provide additional capacity between capital cities and remote communities to enhance performance and improve connectivity to regional Australia which will support the anticipated growth in bandwidth over the next 25+ years. It’s a nation-building investment that benefits both those living in cities and in regional communities. The new ICF network will connect industries with increasing data requirements and potentially create more jobs in regional communities.
The new fibre technology is the first step in ultrafast connectivity between capital cities and into regional and remote communities. This will support remote working from home arrangements, health services, high-definition entertainment consumption, online gaming, and agriculture.
Primary Purpose of Position
This position is a hybrid role, you will be responsible for the Installation of optical fibre cables and marker posts, cutting and repairing of fences, Potholing and locating multiple services, and Hauling and Manual handling of optic fibre cables across multiple projects, The ability to work unsupervised will be required and your ability to forward think and plan works throughout your day will be required. This role requires a lot of travel and working away from home on a 10-day on / 4-day off roster, this roster is subject to change in collaboration between management and staff.
Work locations are currently situated between Barinsdale and Orbost VIC. Please note that specific sites may vary.
Accommodation will be provided for individuals who are not local to the area. However, travel between home and the accommodation, as well as the return journey after each work stint, will be the responsibility of the individual. Kms will not be reimbursed.
Transport from the accommodation to the work site will be arranged, either a vehicle will be provided or a field supervisor will facilitate transport.
