Maintenance Fitter &Turner

We are seeking a skilled and trade-qualified Maintenance Fitter to join a globally recognised manufacturing company based in Lilydale. This is an excellent short-term opportunity offering an immediate start on day shift, with a 3-4 month assignment in a professional and supportive environment.

The Opportunity

Reporting to the maintenance team, you will be responsible for delivering both preventative and breakdown maintenance across a variety of manufacturing equipment. The role is focused on ensuring machinery reliability, minimising downtime, and maintaining high safety and operational standards.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Perform preventative, predictive, and reactive maintenance on:
    • Plastic extrusion equipment
    • Packing machinery
    • Heavy-duty reeling systems
  • Identify and troubleshoot mechanical faults, conducting root cause analysis where required
  • Strip down, inspect, repair, and reinstall gearboxes, motors, pumps, and conveyor systems
  • Carry out bearing replacements, alignments, lubrication, and general mechanical servicing
  • Complete welding, fabrication, and basic machining tasks as needed
  • Service and maintain hydraulic and pneumatic equipment
  • Support PLC fault finding in collaboration with electrical and automation teams
  • Utilise maintenance management systems to:
    • Raise and complete work orders
    • Record maintenance activities
    • Monitor spare parts and inventory
  • Assist during planned shutdowns, machinery upgrades, and production changeovers
  • Contribute to continuous improvement and reliability projects
  • Ensure all maintenance activities comply with workplace safety, quality, and compliance procedures
  • Maintain clear and accurate maintenance documentation

Skills & Experience Required

  • Trade qualification as a Maintenance Fitter
  • Previous experience within manufacturing or heavy industrial environments
  • Strong diagnostic and fault-finding abilities
  • Exposure to PLC-controlled machinery will be highly regarded
  • Experience working with motors, drives, and gearbox rebuilds
  • Sound understanding of hydraulic and pneumatic systems
  • Strong focus on safety, cleanliness, and workshop standards
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
