Seeking Experienced Fibre Technicians | National Projects

One of Australia’s leading Electrical & Communications Contractors is seeking expressions of interest from experienced Fibre Technicians to support a diverse range of projects across Melbourne, Adelaide, and the Northern Territory.

These roles are based out of the Melbourne office and involve travel to various project sites. Works are generally undertaken on a 3-week rotational basis, with all travel and living-away-from-home costs fully covered.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform high-quality fibre optic splicing and jointing.
• Manage connector assembly and fibre termination (including polishing and end-face finishing).
• Conduct rigorous testing and fault-finding across fibre optic networks.
• Handle fibre preparation and long-distance cable hauling.
• Maintain elite standards of workmanship, quality, and site safety.
• Operate effectively in diverse environments, including remote locations.
• Maintain professional communication with supervisors, project teams, and clients.

Required Qualifications & Skills

• Proven Expertise: Demonstrated capability in splicing, termination, testing, and long-distance hauling.
• Project Experience: Background in construction, communications, or major infrastructure projects.
• Flexibility: Ability to work away from home on a rostered basis.
• Safety First: A strong, proactive commitment to safety and quality protocols.
• Credentials: Current White Card and a valid Driver’s Licence.
• Registrations: ACMA Open Cabling Registration (or equivalent telecommunications qualifications) is highly regarded.

Desirable Attributes

• Cert III in Telecommunications or Cert III Electrical (A-Grade Licence).
• Experience working in remote or regional environments.
• Previous experience on Defence, Utilities, or major Infrastructure sites.
• Current First Aid, EWP, and Working at Heights tickets.
