Terminal Supervisor

Our client, who is a leader in Bulk Liquid Storage and Handling throughout Australia and New Zealand, is currently looking for a Terminal Supervisor to join their well-established team in Brisbane, QLD.

The purpose of the role is to coordinate and monitor the site Operations so that the site operates in full compliance with the company’s Safety Management System (SMS) and meets both customer product requirements and the requirements of the company’s strategic plan.

This is a full-time Permanent position offering an excellent salary and company benefits!

Accountabilities will include but not limited to:

  • Ensure works on site are completed in line with procedures outlined in the Safety Management System including Safe Work Permits, Confined Space Entry Permits and safety & environmental issues raised in Work Instructions.
  • Record all non-conformances, incidents, improvements, and issues and ensure that all items are addressed within the defined timeframe.
  • Participate in or conduct incident investigations as required for major non-conformances in the terminals.
  • Conduct and co-ordination of weekly toolbox talks, monthly safety meetings, ensuring all staff, visitors and contractors to site operate in full accordance with company safety procedures.
  • Execute the daily operations plans, manage site contacts, support minor project works and assist site personnel to ensure the safe and efficient operation of the Terminals.
  • Ensure that all staff are trained in accordance with the Safety Management System requirements.
  • Undertake performance reviews and conduct expectations, provision of effective feedback (informal and formal), provision of appropriate training and development programs.
  • Responsible for direct personnel including authorisation of overtime, leave and all performance management and dispute resolution issues with the support of HR.
  • Co-ordinate and provide resourcing for Terminal Operations including Terminal, Shipping and Washbay activities in line with scheduled requirements.
  • Initial point of contact for day to day customer queries and issues to ensure that customer expectations are met
  • Co-ordinate activities with maintenance, engineering and operations teams
  • Provide site input for the generation of annual Operations budgets
  • Work with National Dispatch Manager to ensure that all operational recoveries are captured.
  • Relief for the Queensland Operations Manager as required in periods of absence.

To be successful, you will have:

  • Previous experience working in a heavy industrial environment.
  • Experience in bulk liquid storage highly regarded
  • Demonstrated technical understanding of highly engineered product and the transport of dangerous goods.
  • Extensive people and organisational leadership skills across operations and logistics within a self-managed team environment.
  • Trade experience as an operator maintainer in a Bulk Liquid Storage facility highly advantageous.
  • Knowledge and experience in the use of Microsoft Word and Excel computer programs
  • 5 years of operating and or maintaining of a bulk liquid storage of comparable scale and size highly advantageous.
