Principal Logistics and Trade Compliance Specialist

You will manage the Logistics and Trade Compliance function relating to assigned projects. Servicing the logistics and trade compliance needs of the Project Management, Procurement, Subcontract and Project Client teams is an essential requirement. Establishing the scope of work, procedures and service requirements of the project and delivering these services on time and under budget is an essential function of this position.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise Project Logistics & Trade Compliance Coordinators, the company’s Quarantine Compliance Inspectors and Warehouse operations
  • Service the logistics demand associated with marine vessel operations dependent on the location of vessels
  • Responsible for Client & PMT interface on logistics and trade compliance matters
  • Responsible for planning, leading, organising, and controlling all Logistical activities
  • Operate in Compliance with the company’s Guidelines and Procedures
  • Develop project Logistics & Trade Compliance procedures to improve business process
  • Develop DAFF Biosecurity Cargo Import compliance program
  • Managing the entire shipment process from generation of the purchase order through to the final point of delivery into Singapore, Batam and Australia or to the destination as stipulated on the PO
  • Review of subcontractor’s equipment & materials for compliance and develop procedures for the management of such cargo movement to minimize delays and exposure to quarantine and compliance issues
  • Ensure that Project export and import compliance functions relative to transportation and logistics operate in compliance with all US Federal Government and other Governments of the world export and import control regulations
  • Ensure the Standard Shipment Instructions relating to assigned projects are project specific. Purchase Orders are compatible with any unique circumstances or instructions surrounding the PO and comply with Export and Import regulations
  • Supervise export and import recordkeeping processes and maintenance of such files are in compliance with corporate procedures and meet the requirements of US Government and Australian Government requirements
  • Provide Logistics and Trade Compliance customer service and problem-solving services to the Project Team members and liaise with, Procurement, Fabrication, & Marine Departments for materials and equipment / vessel movements
  • Ensure that all shipments moving into and out of Project facilities located in Batam, Darwin, Broome, Darwin, Perth, and any other origin port as nominated on the PO such as dangerous goods and radioactive shipments are handled in accordance with IATA and international IMO and IATA regulations
  • Audit SED compliance as necessary
  • Liaise with internal Customers, Regulatory authorities, and Service providers to facilitate a cohesive, dependable and cost-efficient Logistics and Regulatory Compliant process
  • Prepare Project Budget freight cost estimates as required
  • Liaise with the following internal customers to facilitate a compliant, cohesive, dependable and cost-efficient Logistics and Compliance process
  • Responsible for liaison with Australian Customs & Border Protection Services

Key Requirements:

  • Degree in Commerce or Logistics/Supply Chain Management or equivalent years’ experience
  • Logistics & Trade Compliance experience, with 4 years in Supervisory role
  • Comprehensive knowledge of contemporary logistics and trade compliance strategies, principles, and procedures
  • Training in an international trade related discipline is desirable
  • Previous experience in a Logistics role associated with offshore oil and energy projects
  • Superior interpersonal communication skills and a desire to operate in a team environment
  • Sound track record in dealing with international trade and all of the related issues
  • Knowledge of Australia, Singapore and Indonesia or other Government’s export/import control regulations and procedures
  • Knowledge of US Export Control regulations and procedures
  • Proven ability to offer and provide internal customer service excellence
  • Proficient in all MS Software packages
  • Able to complete tasks in according to procedure under tight timeline as needed
  • Team Player with cross functions to achieve deliverables
